When two of Jaguar's 2011 XJ prototypes hit the Nürburgring today, we thought something looked a little different with one of the cars. Closer examination shows the XJ will be offered in two wheelbase lengths! The rear passenger doors tell the tale as one prototype clearly has longer doors than the other.
With Ian Callum's praise of the Mercedes CLS' styling in mind we reckon the new Jaguar XJ will combine the idea of a four-door coupé with traditional Jaguar design elements. Codenamed X351, the underpinnings of the new executive saloon aren't completely new as Jaguar decided to modify the existing all-aluminum XJ platform for the new model. Power is expected to come from new direct-injection V8 engines, with 380 and up horsepower Watch for the XJ to make its official debut as soon as July this year! A totally new XJ isn't expected untill around the 2015 model year.
