The series is quite innovative since it represents 22 different nations. It represents the first opportunity for nations to compete exclusively on a truly level playing field in the World Cup of Motorsport. In A1 Grand Prix racing, it is Nation versus Nation, and not driver against driver. Two Formula Atlantic drivers drive the A1 Team Canada car this year: James Hinchcliffe and Robert Wickens. The A1 Grand Prix car is a single seater powered by a 500 hp, normally aspirated Zytek V8 engine bolted to a semi-automatic gearbox activated by two paddles located behind the steering wheel. The car is capable to reach a top speed of 300 km/h. This year's schedule is made of 10 rounds, featuring races held in the Netherlands, enin the Czech Republic, Malaysia, China, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Mexico and Great-Britain.
