A Canadian Enduro Championship has been created

Canadians will finally have a Canadian Enduro Championship (CEC) in 2009 and beyond. A four-event, 8-race series organized by World Enduro Canada (WEC) has been created and will visit Canada next year.

The 2008 "Ride Green and Drive Clean" event, sponsored by the University of Waterloo Alternate Fuels Team (UWAFT), will be held Wednesday, April 30, at the Direct Energy Centre, in Toronto. Visitors will get a closer look at Canada's first zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Members of the medias are invited to step behind the wheel and drive this innovative vehicle on a 340-meter interior track. Representatives of the UWAFT development staff will be on hand to present their project and the technology being used. In addition, three marquee guests will give lectures: Gary Lunn, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, David Miller, Mayor of Toronto, and Adel S. Sedra, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo.

Amidst the high performance, ultra-luxurious and super-expensive machinery at the Toronto Auto Show was an exhibit called Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in Motion. It represents a look at a possible future in motoring that addresses issues common to big cities- like Toronto. The exhibit featured small and fuel-efficient cars, and was located, perhaps ironically, across from a display of vintage muscle cars.

Toronto, Ontario - The largest Ferrari Maserati dealership in North America will soon be built in Vaughn, a few kilometers north of Toronto. Construction work for the new facilities, which started at the end of last year, will give birth to the first Ferrari Maserati dealership to meet the new architecture standards of the Fiat division in North America.

Chip Foose, host of the American TV show Overhaulin' and one of the hottest car tuners on the scene, presented an all-new interpretation of Ford's upcoming urban crossover, the 2009 Flex. The unveiling took place at the 2008 Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS), in Toronto. According to the automaker, the "Foose-tuned Ford Flex is the very definition of contemporary suburban luxury". In street-tuner talk, this means oversized Foose Design 22-inch wheels and Eibach springs customized for a lower appearance. The Foose Flex exterior features a custom-mixed, tow-tone blue and cream pearl paint job. Inside, this color scheme continues with three-tone blue, gray and tan premium leather.

I was 13 yrs old when I drove my first ever Lamborghini and I can still remember it. The vehicle belonged to a friend's dad, a farmer down the road. He had only just purchased it, brand spanking new, and his son and I ran it across a field chasing a handful of wandering sheep. By now, you're probably thinking that I've gone completely insane, lost the plot, or that I'm telling you a bunch of pork pies (Lies).

Starting today, the doors are open to the general public at the 2008 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, one of the largest auto events in North America. Over 1,000 new cars and trucks are on display at the North & South Metro Toronto Convention Centre as well as the Rogers Centre. The show encompasses over 850,000 square feet.

Every year, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada hands out an award for the best new technology produced by auto manufacturers. This year, the award has been given to Ford's Sync multimedia system. Sync is a voice-activated in-car communication and entertainment system that was jointly developed with Microsoft; it can connect your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone or portable digital music player.

Japanese automaker Mazda says that more of their customers spend weekends zipping around racetracks in their vehicles than any other automaker. As a teaser for these zoom-zoomin folks, Mazda's Furai concept took the stand earlier today at the Toronto Auto Show. Geared towards drivers who race their cars competitively, the Furai is designed after an ALMS race car- but with an eye for environmentally friendly operation. It runs on ethanol fuel produced by British Petroleum (BP) and rides Mazda's Courage C65 chassis which was introduced just two seasons ago.

The Lancer Ralliart is clearly a Subaru Impreza WRX fighter and has the goods to go head-to-head. Under the hood, the Ralliart gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that produces 235 horsepower, and which is mated to the new twin-clutch transmission that's available in the Lancer Evolution. The Ralliart also gets all-wheel drive, more aggressive styling than the GTS, and a host of comfort and convenience items such as keyless entry and start, Bluetooth cell phone connectivity, Recaro seats, xenon headlights, a 650-watt sound system and a sunroof.

Initially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last summer, the 430 Scuderia is an addition to the current line-up and is aimed at Ferrari's most performance-oriented enthusiasts. The Scuderia benefits from a 220-lb (100-kg) weight reduction compared to the F430 coupe. It also gets a 20-hp increase, as its version of the 4.3-liter V8 produces 510 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. The new F1 Superfast sequential transmission changes gears in as little as 60 milliseconds. The 430 Scuderia is above all a track car.

Kia's upcoming large SUV is called the Borrego and it's one of the most talked-about vehicles to come out of Korea at the Toronto Auto Show. The new model was presented to the media at the show earlier today. The 7-passenger ute is set to take a place above the Sorrento in the growing automakers lineup. Auto show enthusiasts will recognize styling cues from the Mesa concept that was released a few years back in Detroit.

The company's new supercar will be on sale this summer, and promises a level of performance that rivals beasts such as the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo. The 2009 GT-R will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 that develops 480 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox with wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

The Flex goes on sale this summer and shares the 3.5-liter V6 that's found in the Edge, which develops 265 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is optional. Adding to the flood of confusingly-abbreviated vehicle classifications, BMW has just shown their latest Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) to the media at the Toronto Auto Show. This one's called the X6 Active Hybrid, and it boasts an improvement of up to 20 percent in terms of emissions and fuel economy versus a comparable machine. The Active Hybrid concept promises to combine enhanced fuel efficiency and typical BMW driving pleasure into the same machine.

Hyundai's taking aim at the Pontiac G8, Chrysler 300 and other large, rear-drive sedans with their new Genesis sedan, which was rolled out to Canadian media today at the Toronto Auto Show amidst plenty of curiosity and speculation. The Korean automakers first attempt at a V8, rear-drive sedan goes on sale later this year- with up to 368 horsepower available alongside some of the most cutting-edge new safety features and technologies on the road today. Genesis is aimed at European and Japanese competition like Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, but carries a more American-car like price tag.

The SLR McLaren has always been fast, expensive and exclusive. Now, a topless version of the SLR raises the bar even higher. The production version of the Challenger is currently on display at the Toronto Auto Show. The SRT8 model will be the first on sale, powered by a 6.1-liter V8 that develops 425 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the SRT Charger, 300 and Grand Cherokee that share the same engine, the Challenger will get a 6-speed manual transmission. Chrysler claims 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) times in the low 5-second range as well as a quarter-mile time of under 14 seconds.

According to Subaru, the third-generation Forester is more comfortable, more refined, and more dynamic, while receiving a more SUV-like shape. On sale this spring, the new model features a longer wheelbase, which improves rear-seat legroom. The rear suspension is all-new, and the body of the Forester is stiffer. Subaru claims a reduction in noise, vibration and harshness.
