Chrysler's Mopar performance division is no stranger to the SEMA show-- and they're rocking some hot new custom trucks once again for 2009. This year, the in-house performance parts line is making an impression with, among other things, a number of modified machines from the new Ram Truck lineup.
"Mopar is the place to go if you are looking to further enhance the appearance and performance of your Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Car or Ram Truck vehicle," said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care at Chrysler Group. "The SEMA show is a great opportunity for us to showcase vehicles with proven, quality-tested parts and accessories, along with our technical and diagnostic capabilities." A Ram Heavy Duty 'Chromed' edition will be on display-- featuring a 2-inch lift, 35-inch tires and a 6.7 litre Cummins diesel engine. More importantly, this blinged-out beast comes with chrome side steps, chrome door sills, a chrome tailgate bezel, chrome fuel door, a tonneau cover, leather seating and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system. A Ram Heavy Duty Ultimate Tow Machine will also be on hand-- featuring a Gooseneck hitch, frame-rail mounted brackets and cross members, running boards, retractable bed steps, mud flaps, and slush mats. Towing capacity is upped to 16, 450 lbs, and power comes from the 6.7 litre Cummins turbo diesel engine. Work truck more your thing? The Ram Heavy Duty Work Truck might just be the ticket. Based on the machine's 2500 ST 4x2 configuration, the Work Truck adds a utility rail system, diamond-plated lockable toolbox, a drop-in bedliner, side-steps, tie-downs, retractable bed steps, and Mopar slush mats.
Unlike many of the machines on hand at SEMA, the displayed Ram Truck models are far from one-off concepts. All of the upgrades fitted are available from the Mopar catalog at your local dealer. This year SEMA show runs from November 3 to 6. Photos: Philippe Champoux
