This week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas will feature the unveiling of Chevrolet’s new 2017 Bolt EV electric car. The Bolt EV joins a growing lineup of electric and hybrid cars available from the American carmaker, for which the new long-range electric vehicle represents a big step forward in its quest to provide affordable electricity-based transportation for North American motorists.
According to GM, the new Bolt EV has a range of 320 km (200 miles), and will feature infotainment and connectivity technologies even while stickered with an aggressive price point. It bolsters Chevrolet’s lineup of electric-powered vehicles that already includes the 2016 Volt, the 2016 Malibu Hybrid and the Spark EV.
In another first, the unveiling of the Bolt EV at CES will be carried out in collaboration with Facebook via the social media giant’s Facebook Live video streaming feature.
Chevrolet first previewed a concept version of the Bolt EV at least year’s Detroit Auto Show, with a stated goal of offering an affordable competitor to the Nissan Leaf, BMW i3 and other electric-powered models. The production version being showcased at CES this week will be more expensive than Chevrolet’s own Spark EV, but will offer twice the range – an important consideration for North American motorists.
