Chevy’s flagship sedan and one of its most venerated nameplates gets a redesign for 2014: The all-new Impala features new styling, new interior, new technologies, and a driving experience GM promises will be “exhilarating.”
“The 2014 Impala re-establishes this iconic Chevrolet nameplate as a design leader, with bold styling that will turn heads for years to come,” said Mark Reuss, president, GM North America.
Going on sale early in 2013, the 2014 Impala gets a choice of three engines: a 3.6L V6, a new 2.5L 4-cylinder, and a 2.4L 4-cylinder with eAssist.
Exterior drama comes from sculpted “coves” in its sides, a wide grille, and low-profile headlamps (projector-beam or HID) that sweep around the corners. A power dome hood is designed to convey performance. A long greenhouse and low stance give it a sleek appearance.
A new instrument cluster and standard 4.2” colour display for the driver information centre are highlights of the instrument panel. And 8” touchscreen with concealed storage is matched with the available MyLink system.
New sound-absorbing materials, sound-suppression and active noise cancellation (on 4-cylinder models) make it Chevy’s quietest full-size sedan ever.
Safety features include 10 standard airbags, OnStar, adaptive cruise, collision mitigation braking, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert.
