Bugatti finally ended months of suspense with the unveiling of the Bugatti C16 Galibier Concept. While everyone expected this fastback sedan to be introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the event rather took place during a private ceremony at the Molsheim factory.
For now, little information is available. We do know that the C16 Galibier uses the 8.0-litere W16 engine of the Veyron as well as many of its design cues. The front-mounted powerplant is hidden under a long hood that opens in two separate panels as a nod to early 20th-century cars. It can run on ethanol just like Bentley’s Supersport coupe. Bugatti remains tight-lipped about the car's specifications and power, which should be somewhere between 800 and 1,000 horsepower. It’s an all-wheel drive with ceramic brakes and several carbon fiber panels painted in dark blue. The doors and front fenders are highlighted by polished aluminum in a tribute to the iconic Type 57. The Veyron-like interior is understated yet infinitely luxurious. The Galibier is named after a 1939 Type 57 four-door and Alpine mountain road. Of course, production plans and pricing are still unknown.
