General Motors has announced that the 2012 GMC Terrain and Buick Verano, Regal and LaCrosse will be the first to inherit the IntelliLink infotainment system. Though the moniker sounds new, it’s in fact a renamed version of MyLink that will be used in the 2012 Chevrolet Volt and Equinox.
Connecting to your smart phone, the system features voice activation and allows drivers to queue songs by title, group or nickname (such as The Boss for Bruce Springsteen) without taking their eyes off the road.
It also reads files from portable devices and enables you to create personalized radio station lists, according to your tastes and favourite artists or genres.
GM is counting on IntelliLink and MyLink, complements to the OnStar service, to get ahead of the ever-fiercer competition. Already, automakers like Toyota and Hyundai have joined the technology war declared by Ford, industry pioneer with the SYNC and MyFord Touch systems.
