Satellite radio is taking over the airwaves as many predicted it would- and Kia has just announced that they're the latest automaker teaming up with SIRIUS Satellite Radio. SIRIUS allows customers to take advantage of over 100 stations in various genres, all free of commercials.

Vehicles with satellite radio can never drive out of range of the transmission, as the signal is beamed down from space via satellite. Whether it's talk, jazz, rock, news, heavy-metal or sports, there's a station for just about anyone.

In a long-term exclusive agreement announced Tuesday, the Korean automaker said that they'll make SIRIUS a factory-installed option in their vehicles starting next month. When optionally equipped with a factory receiver, controls are centralized, and the need to run wires or mount a unit to the windshield is eliminated.

All factory-installed satellite radio units come with a 3-month subscription, after which time owners pay $14.99 per month.

"SIRIUS is very excited to add Kia to its list of exclusive automotive partners in Canada," said Mark Redmond, CEO of SIRIUS Canada Inc. "Now Kia drivers in Canada can experience SIRIUS' leading content and programming with the best coverage and sound."

"This partnership with SIRIUS furthers Kia's commitment to offering vehicles that are exciting and enabling," said Jay Chung, President of Kia Canada. "With SIRIUS in their vehicles, Kia drivers will enjoy a wide range of exclusive programming and commercial-free music."
