The breathtaking, modern-day Lancia Stratos prototype, which got a fair share of media coverage over the last few months and seemed headed for production, might end up being a one-off project. Based on Ferrari 430 Scuderia underpinnings and mechanicals, the Stratos benefits from a 540-hp, 4.3-litre V8 and a curb weight of just 2,850 lbs (1,247 kg).

But a
recent post on
www.new-stratos.com cites that Pininfarina, who was likely to build the car in very-limited numbers, advised that they will only carry out the Statos' construction with Ferrari's blessing. A blessing they won't get, as Ferrari will not consent to the production of the Lancia supercar
Plan B for the rejuvenation of the Stratos is to use a chassis and components from another car company, which basically means starting the project almost all over again.
