Mazda: No link between Mazda6 move to Japan and new Mexican plant
Tuesday, June 21, 2011
Last Friday, Mazda announced a new assembly plant in Mexico to build Mazda2 and Mazda3 models, which had many observers wondering if there is any connection with the transfer of Mazda6 production from Flat Rock, MI to Japan. After some clarification by the automaker, it appears the two announcements are unrelated.

2012 BMW 6 Series Cabriolet Preview
Saturday, May 07, 2011
Where a seamless blend of roof-optional advanced performance, styling and technology is concerned, few machines can claim the same impact on the market as the BMW 6 Series Cabriolet. Updated for the 2012 model year, BMW's latest droptop has been revised, updated and refreshed to fulfill the needs of the market's most discerning convertible shoppers. Comfort, safety, practicality and long-term value are all assured--as is a healthy dose of twin-turbocharged V8 power.

2011 Mazda6 GT-V6 Review
Sunday, May 08, 2011
The Mazda6 has had a successful run so far. It has been named 'Best New Family Car' twice by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). I am skipping the base model GS-I4 and spending my entire week with the top-model GT-V6. I drove the four-cylinder last year and really enjoyed it! So I am looking forward to the extra 'zoom-zoom' in this V6 version.

2010 LA Auto Show: BMW 6 Series Concept
Wednesday, November 17, 2010
Concept cars often look great when unveiled, but sometimes great features of those concepts never make it to production. Hopefully, the BMW 6 Series Concept unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show will be put into production with barely any change, because it's simply one of the most exciting cars BMW made in the past years.

2010 Mazda6 GT-I4 Review
Sunday, November 14, 2010
Midsize sedans are very popular in Canada. With approximately 10,000 units sold per month, cars like the Mazda6 represent the second best-selling segment behind only compacts. No wonder automakers go to great lengths to market these models.

2010 Paris Auto Show Prototypes: BMW 6-Series
Tuesday, October 12, 2010
It is often difficult to mess with an icon and BMW found out first hand when the previous generation of the 6-Series was unveiled. To most enthusiasts and the car buying public, the car was nothing more than an ugly shadow of its former glorious self. Even so, the 6-Series sold well but we can't help but think that BMW was extra careful when they penned this beauty.

Bonhams to Display Elvis' Mercedes 600 Tomorrow in UK!

« Any place Is Paradise » sang Elvis in 1956. All those rare and exotic automobiles he owned and drove surely reflect that too. Among them were two Mercedes-Benz 600, one of which will be on display tomorrow for the media and prospective buyers to boast Bonhams' traditional end of year auction of 'Important Motor Cars and Fine Automobilia'. This event takes place on December 6, 2010, and for the first time at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, UK.

2010 Mazda6 GS-I4 Comfort Review
Wednesday, June 23, 2010
No one should ever expect a Mazda6 to turn into a taxi. Seriously, that wouldn't make any sense...unless Queen Latifah's character from "Taxi" decides to trade her yellow Crown Vic for the popular Japanese athlete in a future movie, but even that seems far-fetched!

2010 Mazda6 GT-V6 Review
Sunday, March 14, 2010
I first saw the commercial for the Mazda6 in a movie theatre last year, do you remember it? The Coliseum, people thumping their feet, wheels spinning, sand flying through the air and then cut to the little boy and "ZOOM ZOOM". It actually gave me the shivers.

2010 Mazda6 Preview
Friday, January 22, 2010
Several years ago, Mazda did something very important in the family sedan segment when they built a sedan that was incredible to look at and exceptional to drive. That sedan was called the 6-- and it's now entered its second generation on sale.

2004-2008 Mazda6 Pre-Owned
Sunday, November 15, 2009
Back in 2004 and shortly after the Mazda 6 hit the market, it seemed like buying one was a pretty foolproof choice. In addition to capitalizing on a great new styling language, the sporty sedan and wagon from the alternative Japanese manufacturer began winning awards from international press and industry authorities in a big way. The 6 had arrived--and it was a sporty, nicely styled and fun-to-drive machine that made the Accord and Camry look downright boring.

2009 Mazda6 GT-V6 Review
Wednesday, February 11, 2009
Zoom-Zoom is alive and well at your Mazda dealer. The new Mazda6 proves that. As a winner in the family car wars (between $22,000 and $30,000) in the Automobile Journalist's Association of Canada (AJAC) Canadian Car of the year testing, the second-generation Mazda6 is now a finalist in the Canadian Car of the Year Awards.

2009 Mazda6 GS-V6 Review
Monday, November 24, 2008
Since Honda decided a few years back that their mid-size Accord in North America should be different (read: bigger) than the one sold in the rest of the world, its rivals don't have much choice but to follow the same path.

2009 Mazda 6 GT-V6 Review (video)
Monday, October 13, 2008
For the past few years now, Mazda has been giving us boldly styled prototypes, but these liquid lines have been slow to make it into production. For 2009, Mazda is finally launching a model graced with a cleaner version of this liquid styling and a rare elegance.

2009 Mazda6 GT-I4 Review (video)
Thursday, January 01, 2009
It's tricky business updating a car like the Mazda 6, especially with the original's reputation as the sportiest and most energetic model in its class. It offered handling, style and entertainment value at above-par levels, not to mention a great look and very sporty driving characteristics. If BMW made a front-drive car, it would probably drive just like the last-generation Mazda 6.

2008 BMW 650i Cabriolet Review
Friday, August 22, 2008
That's the thing about this BMW. Sure enough, the majestic bodywork and high-performing powertrain live up to the brand's legendary reputation. But the 6-Series Cabriolet really takes your breath away once you drop the top. Of course, it's a sizeable car, meaning you have to adjust your driving habits accordingly.

2009 Mazda6 First Impressions
Thursday, July 24, 2008
Revising the Mazda6 was no easy task. This successful midsize sedan managed to conquer the hearts of about 9,000 drivers year in, year out. However, newer models have emerged in recent years and made this market segment more competitive than ever, led by the freshly-redesigned Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Lower MSRPs for 2009 Mazda6; price drops on other models
Tuesday, July 22, 2008
For 2009, several Mazda models will benefit from lower manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRP). These reductions, ranging from $800 to $3,200, are attributable to the strength of the Canadian dollar. The automaker's best-selling car, the Mazda3, offers interesting savings. The MSRP of the sedan, hatchback and MAZDASPEED versions has been slashed by $2,000 on all trim levels. The Mazda3 GX sedan will now start at $14,895, while the MAZDASPEED3 will retail for $29,360.

2008 Mazda6 GT-V6 Review
Tuesday, July 08, 2008
For some people, growing old means having wrinkles, becoming useless and falling into dark oblivion. For others, it's about getting wiser and remaining very much in the game. That's always the approach at Mazda -- and it seems to pay off. Despite being introduced in 2002, the Mazda6 is still among the most popular midsize sedans on the market. Why? Allow me to list all the reasons.

North-American 2009 Mazda6 unveiled
Friday, April 25, 2008
The mid-size sedan segment is the most competitive on the market, and Mazda is going to war with a brand-new 6. The 2009 Mazda6 will initially be offered in four-door configuration only, and will have a choice of two engines. A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic, while the 3.7-liter V6 borrowed from the CX-9 is available with a 6-speed automatic.

2008 Mazda 6 Sport Review
Friday, May 02, 2008
Since Mazda launched the 6, its competitors have gone under the knife for some pretty major plastic surgery. If you follow the visual lineage of the Accord, Altima and Camry, you might agree that it was only after the latest face-lift that any of them really pushed the styling envelope.

2007 Mazda6 Sport Wagon GT-V6 Road Test
Sunday, August 05, 2007
A few decades ago, wagons were king of the road. Trucks were built for work and SUVs, well, didn't exist. And with 3 or 4 kids, we couldn't head out on vacation in dad's big two-door coupe that we washed and polished every weekend. The Dodge Monaco, Olds Vista Cruiser and Ford Country Squire have since long been replaced by minivans in the '80s, and by the new trend of the 90s, sport-utility vehicles.

2007 Mazda6 Sport GT-V6 Road Test
Tuesday, July 17, 2007
Mazda has got us zoom-zooming everywhere these days. To be more precise, over the last 24 months, Mazda has introduced 7 new or redesigned vehicles. This number will rise to 9 over the next little while when the new subcompact 2 and redesigned B-Series (should there be one) shows up. The other 2 products are the 3 and the 6 which both went under the knife in the last year or so.

2006 BMW 650i Road Test
Saturday, October 07, 2006
I'm not rich, and I'll probably never be. But I've always told myself that even if I was, I would never buy myself a $100,000 car. Personally, I imagine purchasing several vehicles at the same time: one for performance, one for luxury, and one for off-roading.

Pre-Owned: 1998-2002 Mazda 626
Sunday, October 15, 2006
This time around, I have evaluated a used used car. The 626 you see in these pictures actually belongs to one our sales representatives. What does a sales rep do with his or her car; they drive it into the ground, that's what. To many of them, a car is but a tool to travel from one client to another. I thought it would be interesting to take it for a spin.

2006 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon (Video Clip)
Thursday, December 08, 2005
Do you dream of owning an MX-5 but know in reality that what you really need is an MPV? Are you also like many people who tell themselves that they would rather take the bus than be caught behind the wheel of a minivan? Well, this week I have spent a good number of hours behind the wheel of a car that could almost certainly be one of the most interesting compromises in its price range.

2005 BMW 645 Ci Road Test
Saturday, September 03, 2005
Let's get to the heart of BMW's 645 Ci right away: Its 4.4-litre vee-eight (that also invigorates the BMW 545i luxury sports sedan) is one of the most advanced eight-cylinder mills on the road--period, full stop.

2005 BMW 645Ci
Tuesday, July 12, 2005
So Boss !
Although this title would normally best be suited for a car like the Ford Mustang, the BMW 645Ci still deserves it even though the Mustang is a quicker car. Starting back in the mid-70s, BMW began what was to be a very successful line of GT coupes.
With models ranging from the 628i and 630i to the 635CSi and the awesome E24 M6, the last of the first 6-series were delivered in 1989. At the 2003 Frankfurt Auto show, the World was introduced to the all-new 6-series coupe. A short while later, the convertible version was launched. This car is proving to be every bit as good and desirable as the original although with a modern twist to allow it to stand out more.

2004 Mazda 6 Road Test
Saturday, October 23, 2004
The Mazda 6 is the replacement of the ill-fated Mazda 626 (1998-2002). This last design of the 626 never achieved the commercial success that the previous two generations did. Mazda decided in 2003 that it wanted its fair share of this very large portion of the market. Enter the 2004 Mazda 6. Launched in early 2003 as the sporty alternative in the segment, it made promises of handling, style, performance and driving pleasure. In the course of 2004, Mazda introduced the hatchback and wagon versions to complete the line-up. This car, being the third Mazda 6 that I have tested, has left me with as many questions as it has with answers. I have driven a manual GS-I4 sedan as well as a manual V6 GT-GFX sedan. The biggest difference between all 3 was with respect to handling and braking, specifically between the 4 and 6 cylinder engines (engine power notwithstanding). The tester was Sport V6 with the manual transmission and the GFX package. It retails for 30 760$

2004 Mazda6 Wagon V6 Road Test
Monday, July 19, 2004
During my test week with the Mazda6 wagon I was also trying out another wagon. Both featured more or less the same Ford-derived 3.0-liter V6, each was about the same size and offered many of the same features, but one was about $20,000 more expensive than the other.

2004 Mazda6 Sport GT V6 Road Test
Friday, May 07, 2004
I have to admit to being a little on the worried side. I'd driven my Mom and Grandma to the airport in a Mitsubishi Diamante, which is a midsize sedan on the larger end of the scale, but now they would be returning after a month of sightseeing and visiting relatives and friends in England, Scotland and Sweden, and were bound to be carrying more luggage than when they left.

2004 Mazda6 GT V6 Road Test
Tuesday, March 23, 2004
Mazda has always occupied a special place in the automotive section of my heart. I admire the brand for its courage, ingenuity and perseverance. What other modern day automaker has had the creativity and determination to continually develop the Wankel rotary engine to near perfection? Only Mazda! Remember the Miller Cycle powered Millenia? It's just another of many innovations that have long since separated Mazda from the rest of the automotive field.

2004 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Preview
Friday, October 24, 2003
Has Ferrari outdone itself yet again? The 456M, one of the most graceful 2+2s in the prancing horse marque's storied history, will soon be replaced. Its 612 Scaglietti progeny appears even more exotic, with styling from Pininfarina of course. The new performance coupe gets its name from legendary coach builder Sergio Scaglietti.

2004 Mazda6 Road Test
Wednesday, May 07, 2003
Mazda's new midsize sedan has to be one of the most important new entries in the automotive sector. Why? It not only represents the future of a Japanese brand that continually struggles among its peers for recognition, and therefore sales, but puts its company more on the mark mostly due to standout styling.

2004 Mazda 6 GT-V6 Road Test
Sunday, March 16, 2003
Every now and then a car comes along that gets under your skin, the kind of visceral machine that goads you to hold every shift to the screaming multi-valve red line; that teases and challenges you to nail every apex with its precise steering and European calibrated handling. Hours, even days later, the driving experience lingers on. The 2004 Mazda6 V6 GT is such a vehicle. It's as if the chassis and suspension were actually designed by people who love to drive, who have a personal mission to put smiles on the faces of their customers.
