Where's the fuel economy?
Friday, June 18, 2010
It's funny that every time a car gets a new or improved engine, the manufacturer claims that it offers lower fuel economy. But in virtually every case, engine output goes up.

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt XFE Sedan Review
Tuesday, March 24, 2009
If you combine sales of the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 together, only the Honda Civic outsold them in Canada during the 2008 calendar year. Yet the automotive press keeps ranking the Cobalt at the bottom of the compact-car crowd. Could it be that auto writers are completely devoid of common sense, or does this Chevy fulfill compact sedan buyers' needs? It might be a little of both.

Saturday, October 11, 2008
A number of compact relatively inexpensive rockets have come to market lately, such as the Dodge SRT4 and the Mazdaspeed3. Chevrolet has launched the latest salvo in this thin-wallet performance war with the 2008 Cobalt SS. It's a front-wheel-drive coupe that for 2008 is fitted with a turbocharger rather than last year's supercharger.

2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Review
Saturday, September 13, 2008
Chevrolet engineers managed to create a sporty compact car that can rival the Mazdaspeed3 and Honda Civic Si. The Chevrolet Cobalt SS showcases a number of skills and sporty dynamics which the regular model had yet to achieve. This turbocharged Cobalt sure is a solid performer, but the biggest surprise comes from its handling and braking capabilities -- two key attributes for any aspiring sports car.

Turbocharged Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe arriving in dealerships
Wednesday, April 09, 2008
There was a brief period where 200 horsepower was enough to put a factory tuned compact into the 'rocket' class. Thankfully, those days are gone- and more and more vehicles are nudging towards the 300 horsepower mark in the same sort of price range. 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Road Test
Thursday, September 15, 2005
What is (sort of) big, yellow and has a pretty large wing span? No... not Big Bird. It's the new 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS in "Rally Yellow" paint. And just like Big Bird, it is recognizable from a distance, brings smiles to small children, and once seen it's hard to forget.

2005 Chevrolet Cobalt Road Test
Tuesday, May 03, 2005
We are always skeptical of compact cars when they are compared to sports cars because they frequently ride like pedal cars and have engines that sound just as tinny. However, the Chevrolet Cobalt positively glows as a commuter car and a sporty. It has superior handling, a firm chassis, and enough standard features to placate those who endured through Cavalier and Opel ownership.

Gone is the dash-mounted flower vase in the latest version of Volkswagen's Bug. Gone too is much of its cutesiness, replaced by a notable degree of sportiness intended to broaden the Beetle's target market by attracting male attention.
