Yours truly, along with a number of other automotive journalists, was recently invited to spend a day with Hyundai. 2012 Hyundai Elantra Preview
Tuesday, October 04, 2011
You'll hardly be surprised to hear there are very few changes to report with regards to the 2012 Elantra. After all, the all-new 5th generation Elantra was only introduced last year (as a 2011 model), and when a company's doing so well with its current offering, there seems little reason to alter a winning recipe; year-to-date, Elantra sales in Canada are about to surpass those of the Honda Civic.

2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS Review
Friday, June 10, 2011
Has it really been only six years since Hyundai Canada president Steve Kelleher told assembled automotive media that the company aimed to be one of the top three within five years? To our credit, nobody among us snickered, although I can't swear there was no smirking, so intently was I studying the carpet. The plan, he said, was to get rid of all the bean-counters and put the engineers, the designers-the folks who actually know what goes into making a car "good"-in charge.

2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS Review (video)
Monday, April 25, 2011
It's a relatively new trend, but Korean automaker Hyundai is trying their hardest to become a giant pain in the ass to the most well-established and best-selling automakers on the continent. On some levels, that's not much of a surprise. In recent years, Korea's proven they can build and sell some of the most striking models on the Canadian market-- and their latest work, the 2011 Elantra, might be the most important one yet.

2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring GLS Review
Wednesday, December 01, 2010
"Coolness" can swing in another direction in a moment's notice. One day you're swaggering around in acid wash jeans and big hair, happily playing air guitar to Motley Crue, then suddenly, a couple of decades later, people start avoiding you at parties.

Where's the fuel economy?

It's funny that every time a car gets a new or improved engine, the manufacturer claims that it offers lower fuel economy. But in virtually every case, engine output goes up.

2001-2006 Hyundai Elantra Pre-Owned
Saturday, October 17, 2009
The Hyundai Elantra is one of those sensible used cars you may be considering if you're not keen on shelling out the big bucks for a used Civic or Corolla. Hyundai's been proving themselves as a carmaker to be reckoned with lately-- though their history in our market hasn't always been peachy. For this and other reasons, they're still not 'on the radar' of a surprising number of shoppers.

2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring GL Sport Review
Thursday, June 18, 2009
Admittedly, when I sat behind the wheel of the all-new 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring for the first time a few months ago, I was impressed. Of course, it didn't have anything to do with excessive opulence or electrifying performance. No, it was more about day-to-day satisfaction.

2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring GL Review
Monday, May 18, 2009
Small wagons are pretty much a dying breed these days. Since U.S. consumers loathe this type of vehicle, most automakers have chosen to ignore wagons and instead focus on more popular albeit more conservative four-door sedans. Hyundai is one of the rare few that saw an interesting opportunity, which is why they introduced the Elantra Touring.

Tuesday, June 03, 2008
Some cars catch your attention at first glance. And then there are the others -- less spectacular and often considered as nothing more than a means of transportation. Buyers choose them for their reliability and affordable price, not for the passion they arouse. The Hyundai Elantra is one of them.

2006 Hyundai Elantra 4-Door SE and 5-Door GT Road Test
Thursday, October 13, 2005
Like fraternal twins, the Elantra SE 4-door and the 5-door GT share the same DNA in multiple ways. They both come with a front independent MacPherson Strut suspension and rear independent Multi-Link setup, they are powered by the same inline 16-valve, DOHC, 4-cylinder engine with CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing), producing 138 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 136 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm, and come with quite a few similar standard features, but at heart, they are two completely different personalities.

2002 Hyundai Elantra Road Test
Tuesday, July 02, 2002
While most of the hype in the automotive industry is often focused on fine luxury cars and ultra-exotics, what's currently happening at the lower end of the feeding chain is really surprising. Small, inexpensive cars are getting very stylish, well appointed and extremely entertaining to drive. The new Hyundai Elantra is on the leading edge of this trend. This car oozes style. The designers managed to embody just the right amount of sport and elegance. From the front, attractive halogen headlamps surround a sporty chrome rimmed grille. The front fenders and hood are sculpted, flowing toward a graceful beltline that concludes in an elegantly raised trunk, pinched between two angular taillights. The entire package flaunts an aggressive attitude, while simultaneously exuding what seems like an air of diplomacy.
