2014 Mazda6 GT Review
Thursday, May 16, 2013
The completely redesigned 2014 Mazda6 is a stunner. There is no other way to describe the automotive physical specimen that sat silently parked in front of my house each morning of my test week.

2014 Mazda CX-5 GT Review
Friday, April 05, 2013
And absolutely for the better. The 2014 Mazda CX-5 has, in one swift move, put aside all my misgivings that came to light after my test drive of a 2013 CX-5 last year. So good is the work done by Mazda on the 2014 that the CX-5 hoisted itself near the top of my list of favourite compact crossovers alongside the Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan.

2013 Mazda5 GT Review
Tuesday, March 26, 2013
Sometimes smaller really is better, especially when that reduced size doesn't skimp on other things such as cargo space, design and practicality. Enter the Mazda5: a "minivan" for the masses that toes the station wagon line and even plays in the hatch zone if you look at it from the right angle.

2013 Mazda CX-9 GT AWD Review
Saturday, March 09, 2013
Ultimately, the style, space and driving dynamics of the Mazda CX-9 should connect with family-minded driving enthusiasts looking for an upscale crossover. I found the up-level GT variant of Mazda's restyled family hauler to be engaging and entertaining, confident in the snow, and a worthy contender against the Honda Pilot, GMC Acadia and Ford Explorer.

2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS Review
Saturday, February 23, 2013
Every now and then, keys land on my desk that manages to get my heart racing before I even sit behind the wheel. The 2013 Cayenne GTS' fantastically Panamera-shaped key did just that.

2014 Mazda6 First Impressions
Friday, February 08, 2013
I landed in the land of Longhorns bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to take on whatever the Lone Star State had to throw my way... No, I lie; I arrived tired and crabby from a long day of travelling, but as I walked the grounds of the gorgeous Travaasa Resort nestled at the top of a hill on the outskirts of Austin, Texas, I came upon the reason I was there, sitting pretty amongst the gnarled Texas Live Oak trees: the brand new 2014 Mazda6 and my mood lifted.

2013 Mitsubishi RVR GT 4WD Review
Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Straight up: I had more or less written Mitsubishi off as a viable and competitive player in the North American car business. That was before I got to spend a week with two 2013 RVRs.

2013 Ford Mustang GT Review
Thursday, October 11, 2012
The 2013 Mustang GT develops its hostility the old fashioned way with eight naturally aspirated cylinders expelling their hot gasses into a free-flowing dual exhaust system; the auditory product of which can't be equalled for its muscle-car authenticity and visceral reverence. All of which simply gets better for 2013.

2013 Porsche Panamera GTS Review
Monday, November 19, 2012
"Why the heck would I want a Porsche with room for the wife and kids?!" The guy filling his Honda Accord Coupe next to me at the gas station was perturbed at the existence of a four-door Porsche. It was his first time seeing a Panamera.

2013 Porsche Panamera GTS Review
Wednesday, October 03, 2012
Twisting the left-mounted key provokes a startling response from the twin pipes of the Panamera GTS. Its 4.8L V8 fires up with such a sharp, immediate staccato before quickly dropping to a rumbling idle that gangsters dive for cover.

2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI 5-door Review
Thursday, August 30, 2012
There's something to be said for German engineering. I've mentioned it before and I'll say it again: The Germans know what they're doing. From cars to kitchen appliances to schnitzel, if it's German-made, chances are it's going to be pretty good.

2013 Ford Mustang GT Convertible Review
Thursday, August 23, 2012
As far as cars go, I've been a Mustang fan since childhood as my father owned a Mach 1 convertible in England during the early '70s. The vehicle was rarer than hen's teeth in the UK back then, and could halt London traffic on occasion. Yes, while most Brits peddled around in Lucas-riddled MGBs and their little Austin Whatchamacallits, I rode shotgun in one of America's greatest ever creations: the muscle-bred Pony car!

2012 Compact performance car road comparison test
Thursday, August 16, 2012
Track testing is a rare treat. It is only ever really relevant when the cars being evaluated were destined for some form of performance driving. With this lot, we got to do just that. We took all the members of this contingent and wrung them out at l'Autodrôme St-Eustache (ASE).

2012 Compact performance car track comparison test
Thursday, August 16, 2012
Extremely popular in some European countries, and gaining plenty of steam in North America, track time is by far the best way to stretch your car's legs. By the same token you, as the driver, get to burn through some of that pent-up angry energy from negotiating traffic-laden roads day in day out.

Track virgin no more
Tuesday, August 07, 2012
You would think, after all these years behind the wheel, that I would have taken a set of said wheels onto a track somewhere. Unfortunately, such has not been the case. I've been a passenger many a time on a track, or as a driver but with an instructor, but never piloted the car by myself, solo. Well, that all changed recently.

Opus in Twin Pipes
Tuesday, July 31, 2012
"Why would anyone ever turn it off," asked my teenage boy in reference to the button that activates the Sport exhaust setting in the 2013 Porsche Panamera GTS and a number of other Porsche performance machines. And in a way, his testosterone-fuelled assertion makes sense.

2013 Nissan GT-R Premium Review
Monday, December 24, 2012
I've been away for a few months trying my very best to be a new mom. While I was away, I was relegated to driving the same car every single day, my WRX. Not such a bad thing, but it was getting a bit redundant. Being back in the office this week has been a welcome change, especially when I found out I'd be handed the key to the fabled and legendary Nissan GT-R.

2012 Mazda CX-9 GT AWD Review
Sunday, July 15, 2012
Still, to this day, the Mazda CX-9 surprises, but only those that give it a chance. Somehow, this large crossover misses the mark as it should sell better than it currently does.

Driving a convertible to fight cancer (video)
Friday, June 15, 2012
One out of three people develops some form of cancer, so chances are you know someone who died of it or keeps battling to survive. My mother passed away in 2003 and my father has been fighting blood cancer since 2004. Call it fate, bad luck, a cruel trick of nature or whatever; it's one of those things in life that go beyond your control. Case in point: an email I received from Nathalie Thibault.

The 2013 Toyota RAV4 is one of the latest entrants in the hotly contested compact crossover segment. If I blur the lines slightly, and blend compact and midsize CUVs, they accounted for 6 out 20 of the bestselling vehicles in Canada for 2012. These things are big business.
