I must admit that interviews are not my forte, nor do I own a Kia, not that I wouldn't want one. I'm a self-proclaimed car-tard and it has always been about the cars, not the people. In time, I matured (really) and realized that people are the product and this is what drives passion and makes us, the car-buying public, want to buy.

Nissan, for instance, proudly exhibited and championed the Leaf at the New York International Auto Show. Carlos Tavares, Executive Vice President of Nissan North America, seized the opportunity to meet with a few Canadian journalists and detail his company's plan for the Leaf -- "pending government approval."

It's not the type of environment that sees many car manufacturer executives smiling, but in the case of Peter Schwarzenbauer and Martin Sander of Audi, things could definitely look gloomier.

A Challenger named Samantha!

On September 19, a Snake Skin Green Dodge Challenger SRT8 nicknamed Samantha crossed the finish line of the 7th annual Targa Newfoundland. The team wound up in second place in Class 9 Modified Large and 22nd overall. It was a success, according to driver Ralph Gilles -- the same Canadian who became Vice-President of Design at Chrysler LLC just 18 days earlier.

He's not as tall as I expected but his energy and enthusiasm give him more presence than height ever could. Barry Engle was named president and CEO of Ford Canada, Limited on February 1st of this year. Although Mr. Engle's only held 'top billing' in Canada for a short time, he has worked his way through a series of high level, international positions with Ford since his initial hire in 1992. Prior to last month's Canadian appointment, Barry served as president of Ford Mercosul, where he was responsible for all Mercosul operations in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia and Peru.

On February 1, 2008, he was appointed President and CEO of Ford Motor Company of Canada.
