Rollover tests performed on 12 midsize SUVs by the IIHS
Thursday, June 03, 2010
ARLINGTON, Va. - New test results show that some automakers are doing a good job of designing vehicle roofs that perform much better than current federal rollover standards require. The roofs on other vehicles need improvement. In the first Insurance Institute for Highway Safety roof strength tests of midsize SUVs, 6 earn the top rating of good for rollover protection, 1 is acceptable, and 5 others earn the second lowest rating of marginal.

Huge Fabric Retractable Roof on the 2008 Liberty!
Wednesday, January 02, 2008
When we first started inquiring about the upcoming Liberty, our sources seemed to switch subjects and asked us if we saw the ASC Cosmos Hummer H3 that was shown at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. With that in mind, our focus on a camouflaged Liberty was from above - paying special attention to the roof. And sure enough, the roof had unique camouflage - covering what apparently is Jeep's biggest secret: a fabric roof system, which will put the Liberty in a class of its own.

2002-2007 Jeep Liberty Pre-Owned
Saturday, November 29, 2008
Designed for the urban adventurer type, the Jeep Liberty first made its appearance as a 2002 model before being upgraded in 2008 to its second-generation platform. Liberty offered shoppers the typical SUV requirements- namely a fair amount of ground clearance, moderate towing capacity, four wheel drive and a selection of options and accessories.

2008 Jeep Liberty Limited Review
Sunday, October 19, 2008
In the total redesign for 2008, Liberty has taken on more of what we think of as "Jeep" characteristics, particularly on the outside. Up front the traditional Jeep grille is still there, but the headlamps are larger and the front fascia covers a fully redesigned bumper assembly. Take a look from the side and the Liberty is a bit longer than the previous generation and has a bit more glitter with chrome accenting.

2008 Jeep Liberty Limited Review
Tuesday, June 24, 2008
Unless you're a member of the Jeep Club or a true 4x4 enthusiast, chances are you'll drive just like every other Liberty owner: your only off-road adventures will be when you're driving on the side of the road. The only reasons why people buy this vehicle are the four-letter signature on the hood and the relative prestige of the brand. They feel invincible when tackling snow banks and potholes -- but then what?

2008 Jeep Liberty North Edition Review
Thursday, April 24, 2008
As SUVs are getting more civilized and carlike, Jeep bats one in the opposite field and revamps the Liberty, a truck that feels like a truck. Why? Call it an accident, call it strategy, Jeep figures there are still quite a few customers out there who want exactly that. So, can people who are shopping for a RAV4 or an Escape find something to like about the Liberty? Well, yes, but drive them back to back, and you'll quickly feel as tough this Jeep is on a different mission.

2008 Jeep Liberty Limited Review
Friday, March 28, 2008
Not to unleash a drastic new fact or anything, but the average family SUV driver (and even many adventurous ones), don't push their machine's off-road abilities. In many cases, such 'utes won't see more challenging conditions than a snowy side-road or an icy driveway. To most machinery this is fine- but to a Jeep, it's almost an insult.

2008 Jeep Liberty pricing announced alongside new features and lowered base price
Tuesday, July 24, 2007
With new features and advancements, it seems as though Jeep wants to make sure shoppers will be able to find a 2008 Liberty for just about any need or budget. Redesigned from the ground up, Chrysler group has slashed $2,695 from the price of the base 4x4, while adding more cargo and rear-seat leg room, a more functional interior and even an industry-exclusive Sky Slider roof system. 2008 Jeep Liberty Preview
Saturday, May 05, 2007
Introduced in 2002, the Jeep Liberty was never a poor performer when it came to serving up relatively refined road manners, great features, safety and of course a sense of adventure that comes with every trail-rated Jeep product. But for 2008, upgrades are everywhere and the Liberty is better than ever.

2006 Jeep Liberty CRD Road Test
Wednesday, June 14, 2006
I don't know how many times I've seen that bumper sticker or windshield banner which reads "It's a Jeep Thing, You Wouldn't Understand." on the back of a muddy old TJ. I don't own a Jeep, it's been a while since I've ever driven one, and no, you bunch of mud slinging maniacs, I don't understand. That being said, I spent some time trying to figure it out, meaning among other things, getting really dirty. Here's my story.

2005 Jeep Liberty V6 Off-Road Test
Wednesday, September 21, 2005
OK, I had heard that events like Jeep's annual Jamborees exist, but nothing I had previously conceptualized could have prepared me for the parking lot full of 4x4s outside of the Apex Mountain Lodge, just up the hill from summertime playground Penticton, B.C. CJs, YJs, TJs, Cherokees, Grand Cherokees and even a lone mid-'80s Grand Wagoneer that had been de-woodgrained, painted white and modified with an early-'60s waterfall grille, were here to play in the mud and, choke, dust.

2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4X4 CRD Road Test
Friday, September 02, 2005
Canadians are no strangers to diesels. In fact, throughout all of North America we're probably the most prevalent consumers of vehicles powered by this particular petroleum distillate. It's no wonder either, considering how far the technology has come since the major wave of dirty, clattery, slow oil burners hit our shores in the '70s, after the fuel embargo.

2005 Jeep Liberty Limited CRD (Video Clip)
Tuesday, April 26, 2005
People have questions. Few have answers but many have suggestions. Fuel consumption has become a major issue in Canada and car and truck owners want ideas on how to reduce consumption without compromises. The magical (nightmarish really) $1 a litre is here and what that means is the $1.25 litre is just around the corner. Consumers have begun to seriously re-evaluate their needs as far as automotive transportation is concerned. Big old SUVs simply are not as appealing when one realizes that a fill-up is no longer $50 or $60, it is in fact $80 to $90.

Diesel clatter only hitch to Jeep Liberty CRD
Monday, December 13, 2004
For consumers to accept an alternative fuel technology, auto executives believe, it has to be transparent in the product. That is to say, the technology's there in the car, or SUV or whatever, but the consumers don't see it making the vehicle behave differently in any way.

2005 Jeep Liberty Road Test
Saturday, September 18, 2004
I remember a time when I wouldn't have even considered a domestic car. My mother owned nothing but, yet my dad, a first-generation Canadian originating from Austria, almost always had something European or Japanese in the driveway, except for that customized van stage in the mid-'70s. Mom's big Chevys and Pontiacs had the power a young kid with a lead foot could never get enough of, but after spinning both a '75 Malibu coupe and a '78 Caprice Classic station wagon (faux wood

2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade Road Test
Friday, March 28, 2003
After a hearty day of snowboarding, I was riding down the Blackcomb Gondola in Whistler, B.C. My destination was "Base II", the potholed parking lot of plenty where sat a fine piece of American machinery, the 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade 4x4. As I floated across the plethora of parked cars, out of the blue I blurted out, "Hello Sunshine!" Luckily I was alone in the

Tuesday, November 26, 2002
To encourage North American acceptance of diesel-powered vehicles, DaimlerChrysler will test the U.S. and Canadian markets with a diesel-powered Jeep(R) Liberty beginning in 2004, Dieter Zetsche, President and C.E.O. of the Chrysler Group announced at a DaimlerChrysler Symposium on Innovation here today. JEEP SOFTENS SUSPENSION ON LIBERTY
Thursday, May 09, 2002
After years of bragging about being the ultimate off-road vehicles in a field full or poseurs, Jeep has decided to take some of the go-anywhere ability out of its two biggest selling models.
The Liberty compact SUV has already been given a softer, more car-like ride, and apparently the bigger Grand Cherokee will go the same way fairly soon.

2002 JEEP LIBERTY
Thursday, July 05, 2001
By this time, everyone knows about Jeep's new four-wheel drive vehicle, the great looking Liberty (known as a Cherokee in other parts of the world). This small four-door station wagon replaces the good old Cherokee that has been with us since 1984. Since I have already described the Liberty in technical details (quite) earlier this year, I will be brief in my description of the vehicle.
