Vivaro e-Concept Study debut at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2010

Hannover/Rüsselsheim. Opel is sending new impulses to electric mobility: At the IAA Commercial Vehicles Fair in Hannover (September 23 to 30, 2010) the brand debuts a research project on a Vivaro e-Concept, an electric van with up to 400 kilometers extended range. With this concept, Opel imagines that environmentally friendly e-mobility could also be intriguing for commercial vehicle operators.

AURORA, ON, and MOSCOW, Russia, - Magna International Inc. and Savings Bank of the Russian Federation today announced that their joint offer to acquire a 55% interest in Adam Opel GmbH ("Opel") has been selected by both General Motors Company ("GM") and the Opel Trust as the preferred solution to address the future of Opel. Under the offer, the acquired 55% interest in Opel would be owned 50:50 by a Magna/Sberbank consortium ("Consortium") with GM retaining a 35% interest and Opel employees acquiring 10% as part of a new labour framework. The offer contemplates a total equity investment by the Consortium of Euro 500 million over time.

Magna announces continuing involvement in proposed Opel solution

Aurora, ON - Magna International Inc. announced today that, following extensive negotiations over the past several days with various stakeholders, including representatives of German federal and state governments, GM Europe, General Motors Corporation and the US Treasury, it has reached a conceptual framework that should allow Opel to avoid a possible insolvency filing and pursue the restructuring required for its immediate and long-term viability.

The high performance version of the Car of the Year 2009 will be unveiled on May 7, when the Opel Insignia OPC premieres at the Barcelona Motor Show, ten years after the launch of the first OPC model (Opel Performance Center). The heart of the Insignia OPC is its 2.8 V6 Turbo engine. Derived from the powerful gasoline engine already available on the top-of-the-line Insignia, this version reaches an output of 239 kW/325 hp. The increase in power was obtained by a special engine development and by reworking the exhaust, significantly reducing the counter pressure. And because sound is so important in the appreciation of an engine, the acoustic specialists worked on the exhaust of the V6 by adopting specific center and rear mufflers.
