2012 Scion tC Release Series 7.0 Review
Monday, December 26, 2011
Somehow, and despite the time and effort invested by Toyota to create a social buzz around its introduction, the Scion brand's arrival in Canada caused but a small wave in the ocean. Maybe it's because we knew all about the Scion product lineup already, on sale in the US since 2003.

2011 Scion tC Review
Friday, November 11, 2011
Webster's Dictionary defines "Scion" as a "descendant (of a notable family), a son or a daughter. It seems a strangely traditionalist moniker for a brand aimed directly at a young and hip demographic, but given that Scion is a new branch off the patriarchal giant Toyota, perhaps it's fitting.

2012 Scion iQ First Impressions
Friday, September 16, 2011
The Scion iQ is billed as the world's smallest four-seater and the most fuel-efficient, non-hybrid car currently on the market, at 5 L/100km combined city/highway. In a bold move, Scion Canada made the iQ a "mono-spec" car, one without significant options.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011
Toyota is really testing our patience, dangling the FT-86 in front of us, to be introduced under the Scion banner as the FR-S and still out so of reach. Despite the interminable wait, enthusiasm for the Japanese automaker's next sports car just doesn't seem to flag.

2011 Scion xB Review
Monday, June 20, 2011
Whatever that may be, Scion's xB is a novelty that no longer is. Now I could continue, stating the fact that Scion should have been present in Canada from the onset and by having waited nearly a decade, they've essentially deflated their own balloon.

2011 Scion tC Review
Friday, May 06, 2011
When Toyota finally announced the arrival of its youthful Scion division in Canada after years of U.S. exclusivity, small car enthusiasts over here suddenly got all excited. After all, these models are known for their cool factor and customization potential. The tC is probably the most stimulating of the bunch with racy looks that suggest a ferocious coupe.

Montreal 2011: Scion iQ makes its first steps in Canada (video)
Tuesday, January 18, 2011
Bigger than a smart fortwo and much smaller than a Toyota Yaris, the Scion iQ was presented for the first time in Canada at Montreal International Auto Show. The car will seek for an urban audience that wants to save as much fuel as possible without sacrificing security and customization, the company's battle horse.

2011 Scion tC Review
Thursday, January 20, 2011
Scion is causing problems in the Renny household. As a car for hip (another ancient term according to my son), youthful new car buyers, I'm not supposed to like the car. It would seem that I'm not allowed to like the same things my son does, not in music, not in movies, not in TV shows and certainly not in vehicles.

2011 Scion xD Review
Sunday, December 26, 2010
If you're under 35, nonconformist, and preferably a trendsetter, you may read on. At least, that's what's insinuated in a Toyota Canada press release dated October 28, describing the target market of the new brand, Scion.

2011 Scion tC First Impressions
Tuesday, September 21, 2010
A new coupe is coming to town, and it's going to shake-up the status quo. Scion--Toyota's youth division--will be opening 45 dealerships across the country later this month. They will aggressively market their three Scion models--tC, xB and xD--to the Y-generation. Setting Scion apart from other manufacturers that have taken aim at the urbane hipsters is the ability to customize a Scion by selecting from a catalogue of 75 dealer-installed Toyota TRD accessories that modify suspension setups, exhaust systems, brakes and many other aspects of a Scion including appearance.

2011 Scion xD First Impressions (video)
Tuesday, September 21, 2010
The Scion xD is a cool little sub-compact 5-door that serves as Scion's entry-level ride. It's generously equipped for its MSRP of $17,200, and it's totally customize'able with Toyota's long list of TRD bits and pieces. Without adding any of the dealer-installed components available to personalize one's xD, it's an attractive looking ride that conveys a sense of sportiness in both sight and sound. I appreciate the vehicle's clean lines and attractive proportioning; I also like its slightly brazen exhaust note.

2011 Scion xB First Impressions
Monday, September 20, 2010
It'll attack Canadian roads later this month. The boxy xB is Scion's iconic and most recognizable product to date. Eight years after their launch in the US, Toyota has finally decided that the stars have aligned, and they point north. The xB is a remarkably interesting vehicle, which can serve as a rolling expression of one's self, thanks to the availability of no less than 75 dealer-installed customizing accessories. Whether personalized or not, the xB isn't short on practicality, space and delightful driving dynamics.

2011 Scion iQ Preview
Wednesday, July 07, 2010
After months and months of speculation, the iQ has been cleared for sale in Canada. That's good news. Why is it good news? Because a lot of people don't need huge cars like the Yaris or land yachts like the Corolla. The average couple has only 1.4 kids, so why have room for five passengers when you only need four?

2011 Scion xB Preview
Friday, July 09, 2010
We've been waiting for Scion for years to arrive in Canada. Since their introduction on US soil, targeted at a younger customer base than Toyota's ever-rising average buyer age, we always figured that Scion was a perfect fit for Canadians: small, fuel-efficient and spacious cars that are affordable and that offer a plethora of customizing possibilities.
