Saturday, March 03, 2012
Built on the same platform as the Ford Escape, the Mazda Tribute is a family-ready SUV model that offered up available V6 power, all-wheel drive and generous amounts of ground clearance. Competing with machines like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester, Tribute offered up four or six-cylinder power, two or all-wheel drive and manual or automatic transmissions.

2010 Mazda Tribute GT Review
Sunday, December 20, 2009
Families need compact SUVs. This category is mostly filled with vehicles that offer plenty of room for two or three kids, that can load up enough groceries for a week and that can get through the snowy season with relative ease. And they also must not cost a fortune, because if you have small kids like me, you know how much it costs to keep them happy.

2009 Mazda Tribute GX-I4 AWD Review
Monday, January 05, 2009
Before this year, every time we would get invited to the launch of a small SUV or crossover, the manufacturer lined up only the most powerful versions of their new model. Even if 4-cylinder and V6 engines were available, when we asked if we could try out a version with the smaller engine, we would get an answer that sounded like: "Um... we don't have any right now."

2001-2006 Mazda Tribute Pre-Owned
Saturday, October 11, 2008
This won't shock anyone, but the Mazda Tribute is just a re-badged version of the Ford Escape. It's got the same engines, same transmissions and same capabilities, and the only major difference is in regard to suspension tuning. The Tribute gets a stiffer ride than the Ford. Zoom-zoom, and all that. When it launched in 2001 alongside the Escape, it was bigger than a CRV or a Rav4, as well as somewhat more rugged looking as well.

2008 Mazda Tribute GT-V6 Review
Friday, June 13, 2008
This year is definitely turning out to be a big one for Mazda. Its CX-9 utility vehicle was named North American Truck of the Year and its CX-7 is enjoying solid success, as is the Mazda3, whose sales are among the highest in the compact class in Quebec, despite the fact that the car's design is becoming a little dated. Of course, there is also the Tribute, Mazda's compact SUV, which is back after a one-year sabbatical.

2008 Mazda Tribute GT AWD Road Test
Thursday, August 23, 2007
After a one-year leave of absence, the Mazda Tribute is making a comeback for 2008, although with less splash than we would have liked. Hesitant at first, the Japanese automaker finally decided to give a new life to its traditional SUV, no doubt because the Tribute's twin brother, the Ford Escape, has been completely redesigned for next year.

2008 Mazda Tribute GT AWD Road Test
Saturday, July 28, 2007
I know that I have addressed value in a text I wrote a good while back but I wanted to revisit the subject once more. The reason for it is the week-long road test I just completed at the wheel of a 2008 Mazda Tribute, the near identical twin to the 2008 Ford Escape. The Escape, along with the Tribute, has been the best selling compact SUVS in Canada for a number of years now. And, I ask myself why this is. In the very vast available selection of compact SUVs to choose from, the Tribute has one of the oldest platforms and powertrains in the entire segment. Why is it popular? Because of the perceived value of the product.

2005 Mazda Tribute GT
Thursday, December 09, 2004
For 2005, Mazda has introduced the refreshed version of its popular compact SUV, the Tribute. First made available for the masses in 2001, it shares just about everything with the Ford Escape except for the logo on the front grille. To compete with the likes of the popular Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV-4 and Suzuki Vitara (Chevrolet Sidekick), Ford along with Mazda, decided to create their own version of the compact sport-utility vehicle. Wise, resourceful and thinking of the North American market, they determined that making it bigger and available with an optional V6 would attract more buyers. The only negative aspect for Mazda is that it would suffer through more brand dilution (since the Tribute is built by and uses pieces from Ford's parts bin).

2005 Mazda Tribute GX 4WD Road Test
Sunday, May 23, 2004
The other day I was driving by a local gas station and found it funny that it was swimming in cars. Lineups stemmed from the station in every direction possible, with cars even extending onto the roadway. I laughed to myself and thought that if filling up the tank at 89.9 cents a liter is a bargain, what's next? Of course, laughing aside, with gas prices averaging 99.9 cents per liter the opportunity to save 10 cents a liter just might cause me to grab a good book and join the line up soon.

2004 Mazda Tribute ES AWD Road Test
Thursday, December 11, 2003
From the minute I first sat in Mazda's Tribute I was impressed. The instrument panel is sharp-looking and angled for optimal legibility, the seats are exceptionally comfortable, and all of the details are finished beautifully. On the outside its styling is attractive and sophisticated, so it didn't take too much convincing for me to fall for this SUV.

2004 Mazda Tribute Road Test
Monday, October 20, 2003
As much as I'd like to say I'll go to the furthest extremes to get the story, I hadn't planned on investigating airbag safety and crash test worthiness when I set out to review the 2004 Mazda Tribute. But the fickle hand of fate interceded Monday afternoon - that and a slippery combination of wet roads and bad tires.

MAZDA TRIBUTE
Thursday, December 13, 2001
When Mazda?s "Activehicle" was unveiled at the Tokyo Show last fall, it was clear the Japanese manufacturer, while introducing that truly sport ute, was not only testing visitors reactions. Mazda was preparing a production vehicle derived from that concept sport ute ready to hit the road. Furthermore, its Ford Escape twin brother, was impatiently waiting for its official introduction at the Detroit Auto Show. Finally, Los Angeles and Montreal turned out to be the launching pads for the Mazda Tribute. As it appears, the Tribute will be at the Quebec City Auto Show from February 28th to March 5. Mazda has created a new market segment with its new SUV.

Gone is the dash-mounted flower vase in the latest version of Volkswagen's Bug. Gone too is much of its cutesiness, replaced by a notable degree of sportiness intended to broaden the Beetle's target market by attracting male attention.
