If your kids can't get enough of Spongebob Squarepants, they'll be happy to know that Daimler Chrysler and Sirius have teamed up to make such shows available to them in the family car.

The two companies announced yesterday plans to offer customers of selected 2008 Chrysler Group vehicles access to a new type of programming called Sirius TV. Through the Sirius Backseat system, some of the very best in family entertainment is broadcast directly to each vehicle in a high-quality and easy to operate service. Sirius TV will only be available in Chrysler products, starting with the company's new Caravan and Town and Country Minivans.

Three large names in kids programming are available for viewing: Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and The Cartoon Network.

"Chrysler Group is committed to offering innovative technologies that are right for our customers," said Frank Klegon, Executive VP of Product Development at Chrysler. "SIRIUS Backseat TV makes its world debut in Chrysler Group's all-new 2008 minivans and marks the third SIRIUS service - along with SIRIUS radio and SIRIUS real-time traffic - available to Chrysler Group customers."

The Sirius TV system is priced at $470 when bundled with satellite radio and the rear-seat entertainment system. This includes the first year of service, after which the cost is $7 per month in addition to the standard satellite radio subscription.
