Here are these 10 best-sellers:

  1. Nissan LEAF (171,836);
  2. Chevrolet Volt (88,105);
  3. Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid (71,351);
  4. Tesla Model S (66,069);
  5. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (59,552);
  6. Mitsubishi i-MiEV (including Citroën C-Zero and Peugeot iOn) (31,501);
  7. Renault ZOE (22,755);
  8. BMW i3 (22,655);
  9. BYD Qin (21,208);
  10. Chery QQ3 EV (20,318).

What about plug-in car makers? Based on the numbers crunched by InsideEVs.com, the rankings are fairly similar, with a few differences:

  1. Nissan (175,046);
  2. Mitsubishi (97,718);
  3. Chevrolet (90,303);
  4. Toyota (75,372);
  5. Tesla (68,703);
  6. Renault (59,866);
  7. Ford (46,501);
  8. BYD (33,431);

With more and more plug-in models coming to market, it will be interesting to see how the top 10 evolves not only in terms of rankings but also sales.
