Toyota is set to begin 2012 on a green note at the NAIAS, with the global launch of the NS4 plug-in hybrid concept as well as the North-American debut of the all-new Prius c.

Barely bigger than a Toyota Yaris, the Prius c can accommodate up to five people and is equipped with a powertrain that consists of a 1.4L gasoline engine and an electric motor. According to Toyota, it delivers an impeccable fuel consumption of 2.86L/100km.

Note, however, that these specs come from the Japanese version called the Aqua, and that the car might be slightly different in other markets.

The NS4 plug-in hybrid concept still remains a mystery at the moment, and could cause quite a surprise in Detroit.
