Young dirt track star Carl Labonté took advantage of the last ProCam race held at l'Autodrome St-Eustache last Monday to demonstrate local fans, drivers and teams what a Speed STR racer was all about.
The Speed STR is a new race car that will be featured in an upcoming oval track racing series to be run on dirt at l'Autodrome Drummond and Cornwall Speedway and on pavement at Vallée Jonction and St-Eustache next summer. This is a SPEC car that looks like a Sprint Car. It is powered by a four-cylinder 2.4-litre MOPAR engine developing 275 horsepower running on alcohol. The car weighs in at less than 1,200 lbs (544 kilos) and costs some $18,200 (plus taxes and transportation).
