Mercedes AMG Formula 1 Team Wednesday announced that reserve driver Pascal Wehrlein would drive for Force India at the upcoming test in Barcelona, Spain, beginning February 19.
The 20-year-old German, who is also a works Mercedes AMG DTM driver, will spend two days behind the wheel of Sahara Force India's 2014 car, the Mercedes-powered VJM07.
The test will provide an opportunity for Wehrlein to further his F1 experience following an impressive debut appearance with Mercedes AMG at the season-ending Abu Dhabi test in 2014. The test in Barcelona marks the beginning of Wehrlein's association with Force India, with participation in the two in-season tests scheduled for 2015 to follow. The German will drive the VJM07 on Thursday and Saturday. Sergio Perez will drive on Friday and Nico Hulkenberg on Sunday. Given the team’s current build schedule, the VJM08 is now expected to make its debut at the second Barcelona test scheduled to begin on February 26.
