The transporters of the IndyCar teams have arrived in Toronto and are setting in the paddock in preparation for the 2010 Honda Indy Toronto, which starts this morning.
The trucks are parked in the paddock located at Exhibition Place near the lake. The mechanics are putting the last touch to the race cars, fitting them with the proper road course front and rear wings that generate massive downforce on this temporary circuit.
The competitors of the IndyCar, Indy Lights, NASCAR Canadian Tire, World Challenge and Canadian Touring Car series were all very busy Thursday, taking part in several activities, appearances and autograph sessions held in downtown Toronto. The only two Canadian drivers entered in the featured IndyCar events are local boy Paul Tracy, driving for KV Technology and Montreal’s Alex Tagliani, the driver of the FAZZT Racing Team. The two had a very busy schedule, running from on TV station to the next all day long. The new paint scheme of Tagliani’s Dallara-Honda was unveiled and marks the new sponsorship of Hot Wheels. Meanwhile, Paul Tracy’s car will be sponsored by Honda and will be supported by the Make-A-Wish Canada foundation this weekend. Members of the working media also joined Tracy for a conversation on Paul’s training and fitness program, weight loss, cycling and his career as a professional race car driver, and then joined the driver for a few laps around the track on a bicycle. Rallying behind Honda, IZOD and the owners of the race, a large group of key people and organizations from the private and public sector has come together to support the Honda Indy Toronto. On a final note, thanks to Honda Canada admission to the track will be free today for the first day of competition. Don’t miss this golden opportunity to see the action live!
