Verizon IndyCar series’ reigning champion Will Power of Penske Racing secured the fastest time during the final day of private testing on NOLA’s road course.
Power’s teammate Simon Pagenaud set the fastest lap during the first day. Power’s lap of 1m17.9 was 1.1 seconds faster than his best from Day 1. Lap times dropped significantly during the two-fay test with Firestone rubber coating the circuit. Graham Rahal posted the second-fastest lap of the test in his Honda-powered Dallara. The teams bid farewell to the current Dallara bodywork that will be replaced with new Honda and Chevrolet aero kits when the series returns to Louisiana to race on April 12.
