The thieves who stole Travis Kvapil's Sprint Cup car Friday morning abandonned it in suburban Atlanta.
The car was not retrieved early enough for Kvapil to race this week-end in at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but the team is relieved to have the No. 44 Chevrolet back in its shop, in Mooresville. "I'm sure they had no idea what they were getting into, and if they looked at Twitter or watched their local news or anything like that, they probably understand the magnitude of this race car," Kvapil told NBC Charlotte. The truck that was towing the trailer was also found. The trailer itself and spare parts that were inside are still missing however.
