Walter to Resign as Head of IndyCar Series
Two years after taking the position of president of competition and operations for the Verizon IndyCar Series, Derrick Walter will be resigning his position as of the end of this racing season. A statement issued by Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Company which owns the NASCAR circuit, stated that the 70-year-old Scotsman, a former IndyCar team owner, was leaving to pursue other professional interests. Currently, the already-scheduled 2016 season includes one, shorter 2-weekend break between races in Hungary and Belgium. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May left top Gear earlier this year following a physical altercation between Clarkson and a show producer.
