A typical rally consists of a road event with an imposed average speed, which is run entirely or partly on roads open to normal traffic. A rally consists of a single itinerary, which must be followed by all cars.
The rally is made of several timed special stages as well as road sections. The World Rally Championship stages events around the globe and on alls terrains such as dirt, snow, ice, gravel, tarmac, etc. The purpose-build machines are derived from the production vehicles such as the Subaru Impreza, Ford Focus, Citroën C4 and Suzuki SX4. They are powered by turbocharged 2.0-litre engines and equipped with a four-wheel drive transmission.
