According to several sources, including an eye witness who observed the 2007 MPV undergoing hot weather testing in the Mojave Desert in August, the MPV will be back in '07. Contrary to earlier reports that Mazda was going to discontinue the MPV and replace it with the Mazda 5, the new MPV will be bigger in all dimentions, based on the Mazda 6 chassis, with a Mazda made V-6, with 230 HP, a 5 speed automatic, and fold flat seating, due to the same use of the thin design fuel tank that the Mazda5 uses. It will also be a bit lower in the roofline than the outgoing MPV, and have 3 rows of captain chairs, and all of the safety goodies, including stability control. The styling was reported to be simular to the Mazda5, without the high mounted tail lights, and minus the roof arch. The wheels looked like 18 inch, and filled the wheel well arches nicely. The headlights looked like they were HID, with turn signals and fog lights integrated. Mazda sales continue to grow, and younger buyers are picking the Mazda3 over the boring Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic offerings. As a matter of fact, Civic sales are off more than 25%. Even Suzuki sales are outpacing some of the competition. So keep up the good work Mazda! Steve
