Atlanta, Georgia - Porsche has revealed images of its all-new sports car, the 2006 Cayman S. Based on the Boxster series, the two-seater coupe incorporates a 295 hp engine and dramatic new styling. It is positioned and priced between the 911 Carrera and Boxster S.

Styling features include aerodynamic upper windshield sill, curvaceous rear fenders, fog lamps integrated into the front air intakes, automatically extending rear spoiler and newly-styled dual tailpipes. Its rear storage area is twice that of the Boxster.

The 3.4-litre flat-six engine accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, with a top track speed of 275 km/h. The Cayman S uses the Boxster S's standard six-speed manual transmission, enhanced with shortened shift travel. A five-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission is available.

The Cayman S will go on sale in the United States and Canada, with pricing announced at US$58,900, in mid-January 2006.
