Whitby, Ontario - BMW Canada has announced that it will add a new 3 Series coupe to its lineup this Fall, powered by the world debut of a straight-six engine with twin turbochargers, high-precision fuel injection and an all-aluminum crankcase.

The 335i Coupe with a 3.0-litre twin turbo will deliver 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, over a wide range of 1400 to 5000 rpm. Each small, low-inertia turbocharger will feed three cylinders and will propel the coupe from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, with an average fuel economy of 9.5 L/100 km.

The 328i Coupe will also be available with a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder magnesium/aluminum composite block engine with variable valve-lift technology, creating 230 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. Both versions come with a six-speed manual gearbox or optional six-speed automatic transmission. The 335i coupe with optional six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and Sport Package will also include wheel-mounted shift paddles.

BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system will be available for the first time on the 3 Series coupe. The coupe will be on sale in Canada in the Fall of 2006; pricing and optional equipment information will be released closer to market launch.

Comme référence, je peux donner ma 325i dont la moyenne ville/route est de 10.1L/100km Elle a 184HP.

Maintenant, une 335 de 300HP fera 9.5L/100km!

Là c'est plus évident pourquoi BMW a choisi un turbo. Tout un accomplissement. Même si la grande majorité des turbos sont décevant au chapitre de la consommation, comme la CX-7 (autre thread) ou la Legacy GT.

Wow. c'est impressionant. Je la trouve superbe. J'ai toujours aimer la Legacy GT mais là, je pense qu'elle vient de prendre le bord dans mon choix de voiture "accessible".

Je pense que le coupé reste relativement léger, si c'est facile pour le moteur de bouger le véhicule (ie un véhicule léger demande toujours moins d'effort à un moteur), c'est très possible d'avoir une excellente consommation d'essence à vitesse stabilisé et en ville.

Si je me souviens bien, je pense qu'une Porches Boxters S fait dans le 7l sur la route.

Pour le reste, j'adore ce coupé, j'aime la ligne, j'aime la puissance des versions, j'aime le look surtout de profil avant et arrière. Par contre, je prendrais une berline 335i. 4 portes = plus pratique.

Pourquoi la nommer 335i si c'est un 3.0l turbo et non un 3.5l? Il aurait pas pu la nommer 330it (t pour turbo).

L'appellation 'ti' a déjà été utilisée dans les séries 3 'liftback'.

Mais ils veulent la différentier davantage que le moteur.
