Nissan To Debut Sentra SE-R at L.A. Auto Show
NASHVILLE, TN. — Nissan announced that it will unveil the 2007 Sentra SE-R and 2007 Sentra SE-R Spec V on November 29 at the 2006 L.A. auto show. Few additional details were revealed, but Nissan did acknowledge the use of a high-output version of its 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the SE-R Spec V. The same engine makes up to 175 horsepower in the Altima sedan, so a high-output version could easily top 200 hp.
Nissan also announced that it will reveal a "uniquely styled, exhilarating performance-oriented vehicle, which marks Nissan's entry into a previously untapped customer segment." We assume Nissan is referring to a much-talked-about Altima coupe. Caught by spy photographers on a photo shoot just weeks ago, the Altima coupe will attempt to add some excitement to the typically dull midsize two-door segment.
What this means to you: High-performance versions of the Sentra couldn't come soon enough, as the standard model doesn't offer much to get excited about.
