Kia Sportage 2011

I am very happy with the vehicle, but, that does not truly compare with the experience we had searching for our new Sportage. We went through alot of website research and stopped by a variety of dealerships. In Woodstock, Ontario, we have Toyota, Chrysler, GM, Hyundai, Mazda, Honda, and Ford and I could go on for quite some time about how the different sales staff treated us. After 10 minutes at the Toyota dealership I knew I would not go back there, I ended up going to Ingersol Chrysler because even though there was no one in the Woodstock store the 4 sales people were too busy to help me. The guy at the Ford dealership told my wife she did not know what vehicle she wanted when she asked about the Fiesta and during a test drive we were told to go to this light, turn right, go so far and turn right again etc until you get back to the dealership. Hyundai was good until they gave us a vehicle to test drive that was on empty and one salesman told us about 0% 60 month financing and the next guy said we could only get that if we purchased today. Every step of the process for us at Kia was pleasant no pressure they answered every question and when they couldn't they found someone who could. When we went for our first test drives they put no limits and the second time we went they said we could keep it over night. I get co-workers asking me about the vehicle and as of yet I have nothing negative to say. I have also started to take my second vehicle to Kia for service work because of the positive aspects of our purchase adventure.

This is to add to my as new review. Over 12,000 kms driven now. Still love this vehicle. Have gotten used to the visibility out the back and has not created any problems.
The back up camera is wonderful except you need to wipe the lenses regularly to clean it, especially in the winter. Normal with the amount of salt we use on the roads. Otherwise make this vehicle a charm to park, especially owing to the rather small rear window
The latch for the hatch needs to be better located. Too low, so you have to bend to reach and tends to get plenty of road grime in winter.
Wish the back seats folded flat.
Light on storage nooks, but the centre console compartment is very spacious. Storage in the door is very good for maps, water bottle, etc.
Braking is awesome. Had a few hard braking situations, stopped straight and quickly
Fluid refills well positioned
No transmission dipstick. Strange.
Used Michelin X-Ice 2 tires this winter on 16 inch steel rims. Awesome. Those tires are quieter than the OEM summer tires. Great traction, respond well with the traction control

Just got this vehicle one week ago. Could be the first AWD version in the city. Very impressive vehicle to drive. I have the EX version (even if the header says LX). (EX wasn't a selection choice) I have a 2006 RAV4 Limited and this CUV has nothing to be ashamed of in comparison.

Smooth, quiet, great handling, excellent braking. Some highway road noise, but could be the tire selection (17 inch Kumho tires) otherwise not a bother. Very little wind noise, no discernible rattles yet (don't have the panoramic sun roof)

Could of used a more rounded shift knob to ease the manual shift mode.

Storage space is OK but should of created more. RAV 4 is much better.

Back seat a bit tight if front seat all the way back, but otherwise quite comfortable. Rear seats have a nice angle, fortunate since they do not adjust. Fold down very easily, but not quite flat. Nice size arm rest with cup holders. Center passenger, better hope its not a long ride.

Cargo area is OK. Golf bags fits (albeit tightly). Nice little storage compartment over the spare tire holds all the little accessories you may need someday. A deeper corner section for the windshield washer bottle would have been a nice addition (Maybe someone at Kia will see this!)

Hatch door opens nicely, high enough to avoid headaches if you're 6 feet or under. Cargo floor at a nice level. A few more small storage nooks in the back would have been nice.

This trim level has bi-zone HVAC with climate control. Works very well, easy to use and adjust. Front center vents can be shut-off (what a blessing! RAV 4 didn't)

Rather long and high dash, so don't expect to see the hood and the front end. Hasn't been a problem, however.

The rear view camera display is in the mirror. Very sharp image and guide lines work great.

So far, I'm very impressed with this vehicle. Will follow up when I get the kilometers up there.

Beaucoup d'équipement à la base. Très bien conçu. Beaucoup d'aspects sécuritaire. C'est vraiment un beau véhicule.
