Hate the front styling - looks too much like any Honda.... Profile though? Looks very similar to an Audi A4.
The bluetooth connectivity does not extent to "non-phones". I got an external GPS device and it has bluetooth, but it appears it will not integrate into the entertainment system unless there is a phone attached...
HATE the mag wheels! I liked the Monteray's on the MKIV - '03 and up. These look like something that my Grandfather would order....

This vehicle is 70cm longer than the Mk IV. Like and dislike. The shorter car was easier to park. But that is really all I can say against the longer vehicle.

Drive train - I can't say enough about the drive train. It is exemplary. There is nothing that can match it on the market in all points.
Handling - surprisingly, even though the suspension is supposedly cheaper. It handles well. Maybe not as well as the Mk IV (which did not have a rear sway bar - this one does), but cornering is exemplary.
The Highline has an entertainment system that is exemplary. It integrates with so many things. And the touch screen controls are great - less distraction for the driver (if alone).

Évaluation:
I will admit right up front - I am prejudice. I owned a '03 MKIV and I loved that vehicle. It was basically me - small, compact, short, quick and the TDI (which I had) was great in economy. And lastly - I liked the styling - it was European Sport Sedan and set it apart from the competition.
So having said this, I will admit I hated the styling, I hated the larger size (less than the styling). I mean from the front, this thing could be a Honda!
So.... on to the good. I was pleasantly surprised - handling is very much like the Mk IV (explained partially because it has a rear sway bar - the MKIV did not). Also, the Constant Rail Diesel is more than 50% more powerful than MKIV one I had. And gets better mileage! And even though the vehicle is longer? That means that back seat passengers have some leg room - something that was impossible with the MkIV. And while I do not carry that many passengers, it is good to know it is available.

I owned a 2003 Jetta TDI and it was written off, so I had to find a replacement. The only reason I looked at another VW Jetta TDI is because of the drive train. The styling of the new one still just leaves me uninspired. Now it just looks like all the other Sedan's in this market segment. It used to LOOK like a Sport Sedan! No more.

I have a Highline model (Canada). I went for this model because I could not get Leatherette in the Comfortline. With the Highline there is the Audi ESSY starting system. This takes some getting used to, because there is no ignition switch, only a push button. And you need to have your foot on the brake when starting.
The acceleration of the vehicle is now electrically controlled. I do not like the way there is about a 5 second "lull" until the engine actually starts to full accelerate (the '03 never did this!). To avoid this, you have to press harder on the accelerator and that then causes it to "launch". There seems to be no happy medium here. But at least it is only like that during take off from stop.!
Don't know if this is good or bad, but the new Jetta is higher off the ground than the Mk4. It is better in North America, but I am sure probably affects the handling.
Again, not sure if this is good or bad, but the new Jetta is a longer vehicle than the Mk4. This makes it harder to park and is probably also responsible in part for the "family car" styling. But this also provides more room for rear passengers which was really tight in the Mk4.

Drive train and handling match that of previous models, which was superior to most other sedans in the segment.
Performance is outstanding! And the DSG automatic is a fantastic transmission.
The interior layout is very good. Finding the controls and using them is straight forward and in a logical layout.

Évaluation:
I have only had one of these a week and, as mentioned, I owned a 2003 Jetta TDI (Mk4) before this. So, some of my observations may be a little prejudiced based on this. I really really liked my Mk4. So I will reserve the right to change some points based on use of the new Jetta over time.
My first thought when I seen the new styling up close was - omg! What else is out there that has the TDI drive train? The answer - there are only 4 cars with that drive train in North America. Golf, Golf Wagon, Jetta and Audi A3. I had the chance to see all side by side at a dealership and felt the Jetta was still overall the best value (still do not like the styling as much as the Mk4).
Oh well, at least I know that a TDI holds it's value, so if I change my mind I will get a better deal selling/trading down the road.

finition porte et tableau de bord plastique dure, fallait bien faire des économies quelques part pour baisser le prix

agréable et confortable, conduite précise, on peut se fier sur les cotes pour l'économie d'essence d'une TDI, ligne sobre et agréable, prix TDI highline beaucoup plus accessible que ma 2006 que j'avais auparavant,

Évaluation:
En location, ma TDI highline coute pas beaucoup plus cher qu'une élantra ou honda bien équipé, compte tenu du confort, de la sensation de sécurité et de la direction précise digne des meilleures allemandes, et de l'économie d'essence d'une TDI, moyenne de 800 kl par plein combiné ville 75% highway- 25 % ville , de l'espace de chargement pour les voyages je l.'a recommande fortement, c'est ma deuxième et je crois bien que ce ne sera pas ma dernière TDI
