During a press conference held Wednesday to promote the upcoming Edmonton IndyCar race, Canadian Paul Tracy has revealed that he had a full-time ride for the 2011 season but lost it to Tony Kanaan.

Tracy explained that after securing a five-year partnership with a sponsor, he was set to drive full time with Jimmy Vasser's team, KV-Racing Technology-Lotus.

But just a few days before the start of the season, Kanaan, who had lost his ride first with Andretti Autosport then with Gil de Ferran’s squad, got a new sponsor on board along with some Brazilian investors and snatched Tracy’s ride.

Tracy, no stranger to shooting from the hip, has since let his feelings be known on Twitter about Vasser’s crew, particularly his crash-prone Venezuelan driver, E.J. Viso.

Tracy now has a four-race deal with Dragon Racing. He drove at Long Beach and he will drive at the Toronto Indy on July 10th, then Edmonton, and then on the road course at Sonoma on August 28.

He said a sponsorship deal is close that will allow him to drive the finale at Las Vegas on October 16.

He will also drive for Dreyer and Reinbold at the Indy 500 on May 29th.
