Scott Dixon earned his sixth PEAK Motor Oil Pole Award of the season today at the Kentucky Speedway just edging Vitor Meira who had been at the top of the time sheet until the Ganassi driver came into action.
Meira, who made his IndyCar Series debut at this same track in 2002, still posted a season-high starting spot just in front of Dixon's teammate Dan Wheldon. Andretti Green's Hideki Mutoh put in another great performance and he will start in fourth place. Team Penske's Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves will be on Row 3. After an accident during the afternoon practice session, Danica Patrick did not make a qualifying attempt and will start from the last row of the 26-car field with Bruno Junqueira, who also did not make an attempt because of a change to his dale-Coyne Racing car.
