So freakin’ cool

Pros: Look at it! The BMW i3 is an engineering marvel and design golden child, oh and it won’t charge you a penny in gas either since it’s fully electric.

Cons: The only con here would be range anxiety, but that can be easily dealt with by opting for the REX version (or range extender).

2015 BMW i3 Price and Fuel Economy: The 2015 BMW i3 starts at $44,950 for the fully electric version. Opt for the BMW i3 REX (Range Extender) and that price jumps to $48,950. Pricing varies from province to province in accordance with incentive programs (if there are any still available).

And as for fuel economy, well the 2015 BMW i3 is all about fuel economy! The fully electric version will see a range between 130-160km on a single charge. The Range Extender ups that number to 250km in ECO PRO+ mode, of course.

Charge time from a standard outlet can take up to 15 hours. However, if you opt for the BMW charging station, that time is cut down drastically to just 2-4 hours (and will only cost you a few extra grand).

Powertrain: The 2015 BMW i3 is powered by an electric motor and a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that produces 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The REX version means you also get an added energy source that acts as a generator for the electric motor and is a rear-mounted 2-cylinder mill that adds an extra 34 horsepower to the mix as well.

The 100km/h mark can be reach from a standstill in just 7.9 seconds.

Changes and Improvements: As the i3 has only been in existence for a year, no major changes or improvements have been made yet.

Cargo Capacity: With room to seat four, the 2015 BMW i3 also features a rather spacious 427.6L trunk for all your goodies, making the i3 practical and planet-friendly.

Safety: The 2015 BMW i3 is equipped with all manner of safety equipment and airbags, as well as front collision warning, laser-guided cruise control, and fully autonomous parking assistance.

Comparing the 2015 BMW i3: Nissan LEAF, Chevrolet Volt.
