Bye bye, Cadillac SRX!

The all-new 2017 Cadillac XT5, announced earlier this month, made its global debut this week at the Dubai and Los Angeles auto shows. It will replace the outgoing SRX when it enters production in the U.S. and China next spring.

The XT5 inaugurates a new series of Cadillac luxury crossovers bearing the “XT” (Crossover Touring) designation. It will compete against the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and other similar models.  Supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the XT5 offers an all-new Rear Camera Mirror, which is also available on the upcoming CT6 sedan.

Under the hood is a new 3.6L V6 which debuted earlier this year on the ATS and CTS sport sedans. With an estimated peak output of 310 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, this engine has been completely redesigned and features Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology as well as Cadillac’s new Stop/Start system to save gas. Additionally, the new 8-speed automatic transmission marks the debut of Electronic Precision Shift – the first electronically controlled transmission shifter for a Cadillac. AWD is optional.

The luxurious and roomy interior of the Cadillac XT5 is based on a philosophy of clean, modern elegance and craftsmanship. Like all Cadillacs, it is assembled with cut-and-sewn wrapped panels and rich materials. A Platinum trim, similar to the Escalade, will appear on the menu.

Pricing and the exact on-sale date will be revealed later.
