The all-new 2018 Subaru Legacy is making its debut this week at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. Look for significant upgrades to comfort, safety, and multimedia capability, as well as many smaller engineering and design details that enhance the driving experience.
Both the 175-horsepower 2.5L 4-cylinder BOXER engine and the 256-horsepower 3.6L 6-cylinder BOXER engine come standard with the Lineartronic CVT with manual mode and paddle shift control switches. This box is now more responsive and delivers smoother acceleration. Meanwhile, Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system features Active Torque Vectoring for superior handling.
The Subaru Legacy adds to its impressive array of driver-assist features for 2018, including available new Steering Responsive Headlights that improve lighting in corners. Furthermore, Limited models with EyeSight utilize the systems’ cameras for High Beam Assist, which automatically turn the high beams on and off depending on traffic conditions.
With regard to styling, the new Legacy boasts a sportier and more elegant look, highlighted by wider, lower grille openings and a new bumper that complement the wider Subaru hexagonal grille. The redesigned headlights now feature distinctive “Konoji” daytime LED running lights. There are new high-contrast wheel designs and two rich new exterior colours, Magnetite Gray Metallic and Crimson Red Pearl.
Standard Welcome Lighting automatically operates cabin illumination and exterior lights as the driver approaches or departs the vehicle. The cabin is even quieter and more comfortable, with new premium materials, improved HVAC performance, and a redesigned centre console featuring an available 8” display screen for enhanced multimedia capabilities (a 6.5” display is standard). Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both supported.
The 2018 Subaru Legacy will go on sale this summer.
