Three-row crossover will sit just below the Escalade

Cadillac’s all-new 2020 XT6 SUV made its Canadian debut today at the Toronto Auto Show. The three-row crossover takes up position between the XT5 compact SUV and the big Escalade in the luxury automaker’s lineup. We first saw the model during its world premiere at the NAIAS in Detroit in January.

Cadillac’s pitch for its latest entry into the utility segment can be summed up thusly: the XT6 is a luxurious, highly connected vehicles with a versatile interior and performance that is based on responsive handling, with protection provided by a host of standard or optional safety functions.

The powertrain
The XT6’s powertrain centers around a 3.6L V6 engine wedded to a 9-speed automatic transmission, with drivers able to choose between four different drive modes. Total output is 310 hp. The Active Fuel Management system enables V4 operation when V6 power is not needed.

The interior
Inside, effort has been put into making the interfaces as user-friendly and simplified as possible. Not surprisingly, the model will feature premium materials and accents ranging from exotic wood décor for the Premium Luxury trim and sportier carbon-fibre elements for the Sport trim.

Cadillac’s first Bose Performance Series sound system with 14 custom-tuned speakers is in place, as are an automatic heated steering wheel and automatic heated and ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats.

Other features include adaptive cruise control as well as power-folding third-row seats and a tip/pitch-and-slide feature on the second-row seat.

These can be supplemented by buyers with the following optional functions: rear camera mirror with remote wash, forward and reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control – advanced, automatic parking assist with braking, rear pedestrian alert, HD surround vision, surround vision recorder, head-up display, night vision and hitch guidance (with hitch view).

The new XT6 will be arriving at Canadian dealerships this coming summer. We’ll know details regarding pricing as launch date approaches.
