New Crossfire Comes in Under $50,000

The Chrysler Crossfire originated as a concept a mere 24 months ago at the 2001 Detroit International Auto Show. It then made its way into Canadian territory at the 2002 Montreal International Auto Salon, as well as the Toronto International Auto Show. As of last winter, the production version of the Crossfire was displayed at the Toronto and Montreal Auto Shows. Now the classy but sassy sports car is in full production and ready for dealership showrooms.

Its long anticipated price has just been announced, and comes in below what many auto analysts had initially predicted. Scheduled to hit dealerships this summer, the 2004 Crossfire will receive a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MRSP) of $47,745 for the six-speed manual transmission version. The five-speed automatic with AutoStick hovers at an MRSP of $49,245. An extra $1,400 is added as a destination charge.
The Crossfire integrates up to 39% of Mercedes-Benz technology, basing much of its architecture on the SLK sports car. This bodes well for its driving dynamics and build quality, both reportedly world class.
