2006 Infiniti M at Toronto

By ,

The M45 first appeared in 2003 to very little acclaim. Compared to the usual Mercedes-Benz and BMWs, the M45 did not have the necessary elements, other then its engine, to attract buyers from the German makes. Realizing their mistake, the people at Infiniti removed the product from the line-up only to introduce an all-new M for 2006. The latest, better-adapted M is now available in three trims of which the most interesting should be the AWD M35x. The first of two engines is the 280 hp 3.5L V6 shared with the G35. The second is the 345 hp 4.5L V8 also found in the Q45. All models are delivered with a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. The Sport version of the M will be equipped with a rear active steer system that could also be known as 4-wheel steering. The M looks ready to take on the Germans. Price: $54,800 (M35), $58,300 (M35x), $64,400 (M45) Availability: March 2005 Auto123.com's impressions: When looking at all of Infiniti's latest products, it is clear that they are ready to take on the world. The cars are beautiful and fast and the new M only reaffirms Nissan's luxury make intentions to steal sales from other hi-end manufacturers.
