The financially distraught Mitsubishi Motor Company is counting on some of their new models, notably the Eclipse, to help them out of the hole. Aesthetically pleasing, the Eclipse boasts sporty lines that are characterized by a swooping beltline and a rear-end reminiscent of the Audi TT. The GS model will get a 165 hp 2.4L 4 cylinder and will be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The GT version will get the 260 hp 3.8L V6 with variable valve timing should allow for interesting performance. With this motor, each transmission gets an extra cog. To attract more buyers into their dealerships, Mitsubishi will sell the Eclipse with the 5 year / 100 000 km base warranty and the 10 year / 160 000 km powertrain warranty.
