2007 Chevrolet Aveo to Start Under $13,000

Chevrolet seems to be on a mission to counter perceptions about what a car for under $13,000 can offer. The 2007 Aveo goes on sale starting this month and features a more stylish look and improvements to handling and comfort at a starting price of only $12,950.

Power comes from a 1.6 litre mill with 103 horsepower and 107 lb.ft of torque, transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox with Hold Control Mode, allowing drivers to hold a gear when needed. The engine, GM claims, uses less than 6 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres on the highway. Standard equipment includes dual front airbags with passenger sensing, IPod input and MP3 CD player. Specifying the LT model adds air conditioning, cabin filtration, cruise, keyless entry, heated mirrors, fog lamps and a sunroof- all for under $15,500.

It is apparent that the Aveo is well positioned amongst its competitors to offer consumers a cost effective package with a respectable list of standard features and fuel efficiency."The Aveo offers choices and value that economy car buyers have never had before," said Amrit Mehta, Marketing Manager for small cars at GM of Canada. "We contented and priced the Aveo sedan so many competitors simply can't match its segment-exclusive features and price."
