2008 Ford Taurus X Preview

By ,

Ford has given the Freestyle crossover the same treatment that the Five Hundred got: a new name and a facelift. The Taurus X's new look imitates the Edge's where the front fascia, which itself was inspired by the Fusion, is concerned. The new grille and headlight treatment give the Taurus X more character; this is a welcome change from the blandish ex-Five Hundred-inspired design.
More importantly, Ford has replaced the anemic 3.0L V6 with the more powerful 260-hp 3.5L V6 also found in the Edge, Lincoln MKZ and MKX. The only transmission available is the same 6-speed automatic as in the Edge, and AWD remains an option. FYI, this gearbox is a GM/Ford collaboration. As required by today's standards, the level of safety features has grown to include side-curtain airbags to complement Ford's AdvanceTrac stability system. Also, if you need seating for seven, the Taurus X will be glad to accommodate everyone.Look for the new 2008 Taurus X in showrooms this summer.
