The redesigned 2008 V70 wagon will carry a starting manufacturer's retail price of $41,995, the Swedish automaker announced yesterday. Offering a longer, wider and taller version of its predecessor means even more room and comfort just like its owners wanted. After all, when you're Volvo, listening to the customer is important. It's helped them keep wagon models as an integral part of their model lineup for more than 5 decades.
"Wagons have been a part of the Volvo vehicle line-up for more than 50 years," said Steve Blyth, President and CEO of Volvo Canada. "As with the V50, the V70 is an extremely important product for Volvo Cars as the company is firmly entrenched in the premium wagon segment."V70 models will come powered by a 3.2 litre straight-six cylinder engine with 235 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft of torque which will drive the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission with "Geartronic" manual mode. Both engine and gearbox are new to the model. Standard safety includes a full selection of airbags, advanced steel structure and electronic protection measures like ABS brakes, Dynamic Stability and Traction control and Hydraulic Brake Assist to ensure composure in demanding situations. Volvo's Blind-Spot Information System and active cruise control are also available. Expect the 2008 V70 to arrive in dealerships this winter. photo: Volvo
