2008 Volvo C70 T5 Review The beautiful seductress

When you hear the name "Volvo", the first thing that comes to mind is the company's reputation for producing boxy-looking wagons that offer high levels of safety . While the Volvo lineup mostly consists of sensible, highly-functional vehicles, there's also a good dose of passion courtesy of the stunning C70 coupe-convertible .
The Volvo C70 shares most of its front fascia with the small C30 hatchback.
The Volvo C70 shares most of its front fascia with the small C30 hatchback , thereby enhancing its youthful personality. Yet, I found it a bit too understated, especially considering the bold elegance of the overall bodywork. The semi-round windshield adds some uniqueness to the car, while the upper rear fenders beautifully flow into the similarly-shaped taillights. This singular design cue is in line with the rest of the lineup and serves as one of the Gothenburg-based brand's visual trademarks. The equipment level is surprisingly "basic" for a premium convertible. While the interior displays exemplary styling, particularly with the floating center stack, the layout is rather plain though user-friendly. The soft beige leather seats and textured panels brighten up the atmosphere and make it luxuriously inspiring. In fact, the combination of colors and materials is quite pleasant to the eye. Front-seat access is easy but, like any convertible, you have to watch your step. The available room is decent for normal-size drivers, but larger folks will feel somewhat squeezed. Those hoping to sit in the back have to be more patient because the power-sliding mechanism of the front seats is as quick as a snail. A manual lever would probably have been more convenient. The trunk is interesting, offering 404 liters of cargo room when the roof is up and a respectable 202 liters when it's down. Other storage compartments are handy and nicely spread throughout the cabin. Similar to other Volvo products, the seats are very comfortable, although rear occupants enjoy limited room.
