The 'professional grade' division of General Motors had two new models on display for attendees of the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) earlier this week. Both the new Yukon Denali Hybrid and the brand's upcoming Terrain crossover were on present, showing a planned enhancement of the GMC product lineup.
"The new Terrain brings GMC's history of innovation and engineering excellence into a smaller, fuel-efficient package for today's buyer," said Susan Docherty, VP of Buick-Pontiac-GMC at General Motors. "The capability attributes that make a vehicle a GMC are ingrained in Terrain, making it an appealing choice for existing traditional SUV customers who are looking for distinctive styling and increased efficiency." Terrain is powered by a direct-injected engine lineup which consists of a 2.4 litre four cylinder engine or GM's new 3.0-litre V6. Horsepower is rated at 182 or 264, respectively.Terrain gets a driver-selectable 'ECO' mode to help save fuel by altering torque-converter lockup, and features include Bluetooth phone connectivity, remote start, navigation and a standard backup camera. Active Noise Cancellation debuts on the upcoming model as well.Adding a higher degree of luxury and comfort to the GM two-mode hybrid lineup is the new Yukon Denali Hybrid. An upmarket version of the standard model, the 'Denali' designation adds 22-inch wheels, heated and chilled seats, a leather interior and optional DVD entertainment, among other features. Yukon Denali will be available with rear- or four-wheel drive when it goes on sale.
