2010 Lincoln MKT spied!

By ,

Mark Fields described the MKT concept introduced at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show as "...full-size premium utility (that) offers the comfort of a luxury sedan, the spaciousness and flexibility of a full-size utility and the performance of a sporty roadster...," and we think - by the looks of this prototype - that Ford is staying rather close to the concept for this production luxury utility vehicle. An MKS -inspired grill with a pair of xenon headlights is clearly visible under the front bra. Inside we saw a black and tan interior with wood accents on the dash and aluminum accents on the doors. We also noticed a power telescoping steering wheel. While a large Nav screen is in place, most of the center stack trim pieces don't seem to be in place on this prototype just yet.Codenamed D472, power for the new MKT is expected to come from a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 340hp, as well as a standard 270-horsepower V6.Lately we caught the peek at the Lincoln MKT's engine compartment and forced induction is the order of the day. From the "plumbing," we can tell this is the all-new, much-discussed twin turbo direct injection, 3.5L V6 motor. On the engine cover, we also saw a logo that appears to be a combination of the letters "T" and "F." This may mean Lincoln will keep the "twin force" nameplate for this motor, while Ford-branded cars will call it the "Ecoboost" V6.Production on the 2010 Lincoln MKT is expected to start next summer in Ontario's Oakville plant where the Ford Flex , of which it shares the platform, is also assembled.
